Halloween is coming, y’all.

Halloween is coming, y’all.

This year I decided not to throw a Halloween party. I’ve hosted one every year for the last ten years. It seemed like a good time to take a year off. I gotta say, I missed it, despite really appreciating the break. I especially felt the party’s absence on Friday when Sara and I decorated the yard for for Trick or Treaters. Tonight, we sat out on the porch with a fog machine and a few props and handed out candy to kids from the neighborhood. It was a much simpler Halloween than I’m used to, but still really nice. We got to see a small handful of friends and their kids, some really cute costumes, and possibly the worst homemade Darth Vader ever.

Now Sara and I are settled in on the couch and waiting to watch The Walking Dead - a show based on an awesome comic book series by local talent Robert Kirkman.

Happy Halloween, ya’ll.

Oh yeah, Halloween

I’m very disappointed in myself. First I totally let the 13 Days of Halloween posts die on the vine, then it’s taken me almost a week to report on this year’s Halloween party. I can’t believe I actually won all those blogging awards back in the 70’s. What happened to me?

This year’s party was special because it marked my tenth year in the amateur Halloween party business. And brother, business was good (that was really stupid, sorry).

My friend Greg let me shang-hai an empty warehouse downtown. It was a great location: spooky, stark, and Isolated from impressionable, litigious families. There were snacks, drinks, a dance floor, a graveyard, flying ghosts, spooky videos projected on walls, and the worst haunted house ever. Time to start working on year 11 (in about 10 more months that is…).

13 Days of Halloween

Okay, since it’s been on the news now, and everybody appears to be unhurt and un-litigious, I feel okay saying what happened in Hustonville on Thursday. Or rather, I’ll let WKYT tell you.

13 Days of Halloween continues… (with a little backdating to make up for a busy weekend)

13 Days of Halloween

Tonight Dirty, Freddy, and I went to Hustonville to visit a haunted house our friend Greg owns. It was awesome. It had automated werewolves, a vortex tunnel, and a lot of character. Greg sent the three of us through on our own and then gave us a behind the scenes tour. After our tour something else happened, something that bordered on unbelievable. I don’t want to mention it here for various reasons, but most likely the next time I see you, I will tell you about it - BECAUSE I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. If you’re not someone I see regularly, email me and I’ll tell you all about it. How’s that for a hook?

13 Days of Halloween

When you’ve got billions to spend you can do spooky well.
