In which patch discusses the chupacabra

There’s an episode of Will and Grace where Karen’s maid sneaks up on her and scares her. Karen exclaims, “I thought you were the Chupacabra!” It makes me laugh every time. If you don’t know a chupacabra is like the latin Bigfoot or Loch Ness Monster. It’s a mythical creature that people swear exist. It translates as “goat sucker,” I believe. Last night BP and I were discussing why it’s so funny that Karen said that. We decided A) It’s a funny sounding word. B) It’s funny that she even knows what a Chupacabra is. C) It’s funny that she refers to her Latin-American maid as a Chupacabra.

While discussing it, we decided to call our friend F, who’s from the Dominican Republic, to see if he knew what a Chupacabra was. Here’s how the conversation went.

Me: Hey, do you know what a Chupacabra is?
F: Yes.
Me: Do you have them in the Dominican?
F: No. It never made it to the Dominican.
Me: What? What do you mean?
F: They killed it in Columbia. It was headed for the Dominican, but they killed it.
Me: What? It’s not real. It’s like a legend.
F: No, it’s real. I saw pictures. On the internet. They killed it. It looks like a bat.

So today I’ve been scouring the internet looking for pictures of the Chupacabra. For a long time all I found were pictures of the old Lindsay Lohan in a tight shirt. Weird. Finally, I started finding pictures of the Chupacabra. There seems to be a lot of disagreement over what it looks like. Here are a few possibilities:
