Matt Fraction explains the new Casanova release schedule from Icon/Marvel

CASANOVA is going to start in July from ICON.

We’re reprinting the two extant arcs in two new four-issue arcs. The first issue of V1, drawn by Gabriel Bá, will have an all new bonus story drawn by Fábio Moon. Then the second Icon issue will reprint the old CASANOVA #2 and #3– newly colored, entirely hand-relettered, and with new bonus material. The coloring is by Cristiane Peter; the lettering by Dustin Harbin. Then the third will have #4 and #5, and the fourth is #6 and #7. That wraps up the first album LUXURIA in four thirty-two page issues.

Then, like our other label-mates at Icon, we’ll take a short break and launch the second arc GULA, which was drawn by Fábio Moon. What was CASANOVA #8 and #9 will be a new Icon CASANOVA #1. Also full color, also hand relettered, also all with new bonus stuff. Then the final issue, the old #14, which was as large as the old CASANOVA #1, will have a bonus story that bridges the gap between the end of GULA and the start of of our long-awaited– believe me, i know– third arc, AVARITIA, by Gabriel.

The fun there is that you’re getting to see Fábio do Gabriel’s world, and then Gabriel do Fábio’s world.

So: each issue will be full size– 32 pages of comics– full color and $3.99.

Those odd first and last issues will contain all new backup stories. These reprints will be newly colored and entirely relettered by hand. There will also be new bonus material. And while we’re putting them back into the world we’re working on AVARITIA. And as that gets underway I’ll start working on arc 4– ACEDIA– the Orson Welles arc, ha ha– and be able to put that out just as quickly as the other arcs have followed one another.
