This year I decided not to throw a Halloween party. I’ve hosted one every year for the last ten years. It seemed like a good time to take a year off. I gotta say, I missed it, despite really appreciating the break. I especially felt the party’s absence on Friday when Sara and I decorated the yard for for Trick or Treaters. Tonight, we sat out on the porch with a fog machine and a few props and handed out candy to kids from the neighborhood. It was a much simpler Halloween than I’m used to, but still really nice. We got to see a small handful of friends and their kids, some really cute costumes, and possibly the worst homemade Darth Vader ever.

Now Sara and I are settled in on the couch and waiting to watch The Walking Dead - a show based on an awesome comic book series by local talent Robert Kirkman.

Happy Halloween, ya’ll.
